Give Our Faith Hands
A Monday prayer for faith that shows itself in what we do.
James 2:14-26NIV
God of Abraham and Rahab, we believe that you are one, and we know that believing it is not enough. The demons know it too. We do not want a faith that agrees with you and never obeys you. We do not want to bless the hungry and give them nothing. We have done that, in ways large and small, and we ask you to forgive us for it.
As this week begins, give our faith hands. Show us the brother or sister who needs more than good wishes, and give us the means and the will to meet the need. Where you have asked something of us that we have been postponing, bring us to the mountain and give us the trust to go up it. Let our believing be completed by our doing, so that no one who watches us has cause to wonder whether the faith is real. We ask this not to earn anything from you, for you have given us righteousness as a gift, but because a living faith moves, and we want to be alive. Amen.
