Privacy

This page describes what we collect when you read FaithDaily, subscribe to a newsletter, create a reader account or write to us, and what we do with it. It is written to be read, not to be scrolled past.

Reading the site

When you read the site our server receives your browser’s request and records, for a short time, the page requested, the time, the page you came from and a general description of your browser. We use this to know which pieces are read and to keep the site running. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising networks or tracking pixels.

The site records page views and outbound clicks using a small message sent by your browser to our own server. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal we do not send that message at all. The record contains a random session identifier that is discarded when you close the tab; it is not linked to your name or address.

A page is counted only after your browser has shown it for two seconds: a small script from this site tells this site’s own server, and nothing is sent anywhere else. With JavaScript switched off, a tiny image from this site does the same. Counting a page sets no cookie; the only analytics cookie is the one you may accept in the cookie message.

Page views are also counted from our own server, never from your browser, which contacts neither of the two places they go: a path and a count go to 360REV, the platform that runs this site, and each view is recorded in Matomo with your address truncated before it leaves our server; and a request carrying a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal is dropped before either is told anything.

We measure how our site is read with Matomo, which 360REV runs for us on servers in the United States. If you accept our analytics cookie, a random number in that cookie lets us count you once over up to 13 months and see whether you come back. If you decline, or your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, we set no cookie and count your visit only by a code that changes every day and cannot identify you. Matomo keeps your address with its last parts removed, for country statistics, and deletes visit records after 25 months. You can change your choice at any time under "Cookie settings". Legal basis: consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)) for the cookie; legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) for counting without it. Newsletters

When you subscribe we store your email address, the topics and frequency you chose, and the date. We send a confirmation email and add you to the list only when you click the link in it. Every issue carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list within a day.

Our newsletters are sent through a delivery platform acting on our instructions. It processes your address in order to deliver mail and for nothing else.

Reader accounts

A reader account is identified by an email address and signed in with a link sent to that address. We store the address, the pieces you save, the sections and topics you follow, and — if you choose to receive them — the details your browser gives us for push notifications. You can delete any of this from your account page, and you can ask us to delete the account entirely by writing to desk@faithdaily.news.

Testimony and submissions

If you send us a story we keep what you send, your name and a way to contact you, because we will contact you before anything runs. If we decide not to publish we delete the submission within ninety days unless you ask us to keep it.

Cookies

We set a cookie to keep you signed in, and only when you sign in to a reader account. We set an analytics cookie only if you choose Accept in the cookie message, and a cookie that remembers your choice. There are no advertising cookies. Every cookie, what it is for and how long it lasts is on the cookie policy page (/cookies).

The only other cookie is one you ask for: add ?rev360=ignore to any address on this site and we set rev360_ignore on this browser, and its only effect is that your visits are not counted. ?rev360=count switches it back and your visits are counted again.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and withdraw consent to any use of it, by writing to desk@faithdaily.news. We answer within thirty days.
