A Prayer for the Weary Morning
A prayer for anyone beginning the day with little left to give.
God of the ordinary hour, we come to you tired. Some of us slept badly. Some of us carry worries we cannot name. Meet us here, before the day asks anything of us.
Steady our hands for the work ahead. Where the work is dull, give us patience. Where it is hard, give us courage. Where we would rather hide, give us the will to show up anyway.
Keep us gentle with the people we will meet today. Remind us that each of them carries a weight we cannot see. Let us listen before we speak, and speak with care.
When evening comes, and the tasks are done or left undone, teach us to set them down. We do not have to finish everything. We only have to trust you with what remains.
Hold the anxious among us. Hold the grieving. Hold the ones who feel they are failing. And hold us too, whatever we bring.
We ask this quietly, in hope. Amen.
