A Prayer for the Tired
For anyone who comes to the end of the day with little left to give.
God of the long day, we come as we are. Some of us are worn thin. Some of us are carrying more than we can name. We set it down here, in this quiet, and we ask you to hold it.
Give us rest that is more than sleep. Steady the hands that have worked too hard. Quiet the mind that will not stop turning. Where we have been harsh, make us gentle. Where we have been fearful, make us brave enough for tomorrow.
We pray for those we love, and for those we struggle to love. We pray for the sick, the lonely, and the ones who prayed today and heard nothing. Do not let them feel forgotten.
Teach us to trust that the morning belongs to you already. And when we wake, let us begin again, unhurried, held, and unafraid.
Amen.
