A Prayer for the Tired
For anyone coming to the end of a long day with more undone than done.
Lord, we come to you tired. Some of us are tired in the body, some in the mind, and some in a place harder to name. You know which it is. We do not need to explain.
Be still, and know that I am God. We hear those words and we want to obey them, but stillness is hard to find. So we ask you to make it for us. Quiet the part of us that keeps working when the work is over. Loosen our grip on the things we cannot fix tonight.
Thank you for the day, even the parts of it that went wrong. Thank you that your care for us does not depend on how much we managed to do.
Keep those we love. Keep those we forgot to pray for. Keep us through the dark hours, and wake us gently.
