A Prayer While Waiting on the Road

Father, you know how it feels to walk beside you and to hear the worst news at the same time. Many of us are like Jairus today. We asked you for help, we saw you begin to come, and then the delay arrived, and then the message arrived, and we do not know how to keep walking. Speak to us the words you spoke to him. Tell us not to be afraid, and help us to believe.

Some of us are the woman in the crowd. We have spent everything. We have tried every remedy. We are reaching for you without wanting to be seen. Thank you that you stop for us anyway. Give us the courage to come forward and tell you the whole truth, and let us hear you call us your own.

Lord Jesus, you took a dead child by the hand and told her to get up, and then you made sure she was fed. Be that gentle with us. Do what only you can do, and then meet the small needs we forget to mention. We trust you with the timing we cannot understand. Amen.
