A Prayer for the Tired
For the end of a long day, when strength is thin and the mind will not settle.
God of the morning and the evening, I come to you worn out. The day asked more than I had, and I gave what I could. Now I lay it down.
Thank you for the small things I almost missed: a meal, a kind word, a moment of quiet. Thank you for the work that went well, and for your patience with the work that did not.
Forgive me where I was short with others, or hard on myself. Steady the worries I keep carrying back into the dark. You know each one by name. I do not have to hold them alone.
Give rest to my body and quiet to my mind. Watch over the people I love while I sleep, and over those who have no rest tonight. Teach me to trust that the world turns in your hands, not mine.
Meet me again in the morning. Until then, keep me. Amen.
