A Prayer for the Tired Morning
For the day when strength is low and the work is still there.
God of the long day, we come to you before we are ready. Our hands are slow this morning, and our thoughts are scattered. Meet us here anyway.
You know the weight we carry. Some of it is work. Some of it is worry we cannot name. We do not ask you to remove it all at once. We ask only for enough strength for the next hour, and then the hour after that.
Teach us to do the small thing well: the phone call, the meal, the honest word to someone who needs it. Keep us from measuring the day by what we did not finish.
Where we are impatient, make us gentle. Where we are afraid, make us steady. And when evening comes, let us set the day down without shame, trusting that you hold what we could not.
We pray in the name of Christ, who was tired too. Amen.
