A Prayer for the Tired Morning
For the start of a day that already feels long.
God of the morning, I come to you before I am ready. The day is here and I am not sure I have enough for it. Meet me where I am.
Slow my hurry. Where I have made a list, show me which small thing matters first, and let the rest wait without guilt. Keep my words careful when I am tired, so that I do not wound the people I love by accident.
Give me patience for the person who is harder to love today. Give me honesty with myself. And when I cannot feel you near, let me trust that you are near anyway, as you have been to your people in every age and every tradition.
Hold the ones I am carrying in my mind right now. You know their names. Carry them better than I can.
Help me do the next ordinary thing with a quiet heart. Amen.
