A Prayer for the Tired
For the reader who has run out of words and still wants to pray.
Lord, I come to you at the end of the day, with less than I meant to bring.
I had plans for how I would serve you today. Some of them I kept. Many I did not. Take both from my hands now — the work I finished and the work I left undone — and do with them what I cannot.
Where I was short with someone who deserved my patience, forgive me. Where someone was short with me, help me to let it go before I sleep. Teach me to carry less than I think I must.
Quiet the part of me that keeps counting. You know what I need before I ask, and you do not grow tired of me.
Give me rest tonight that is real, not just the absence of noise. And in the morning, if you grant me one, let me begin again — slower, kinder, and closer to you than I was today.
