A Prayer for the Tired
For the end of a long day, when strength is low and the work is not yet finished.
Father, the day has been long, and I come to you with little left.
You know the weight I carried and the parts I did not do well. You know the people I meant to call, the patience I ran out of, the worry I cannot set down. I bring all of it here, because I have nowhere better to bring it.
Teach me to rest without guilt. Remind me that the world held together before I woke and will hold together while I sleep. The work is yours before it is mine.
Give me a quiet mind tonight. Where I have wronged someone, make me willing to put it right tomorrow. Where I have been wronged, keep my heart from turning hard.
Thank you for small mercies I almost missed: a kind word, a warm room, a meal, the chance to begin again.
Keep those I love through the night. And when morning comes, let me meet it unhurried, trusting that your mercies are new.
Amen.
