A Prayer for the Tired
For anyone who comes to the end of the day with little left to give.
God of the long day, we come to you as we are. Some of us are worn thin. Some of us carry work that is not finished, and worry that will not settle. We bring it here, and we set it down for a moment.
Thank you for the small mercies we almost missed. A meal. A kind word. A task completed. A breath we did not have to think about. For all of it, we are grateful.
Where we have been short with others, make us gentle again. Where we have been hard on ourselves, teach us your patience.
Be near to those who are grieving, those who are afraid, and those who feel forgotten. Let no one be beyond your reach tonight.
Give us rest that is real. Give us morning when it comes. And when we wake, give us the courage to begin again.
We ask this in trust. Amen.
