A Prayer for the Tired

Father, we come to you at the end of a long day, when our thoughts are slow and our strength is thin. You know this already. You made us, and you know how we are made.

We bring you the things we did not finish and the words we wish we had not said. We bring you the people we love and cannot help. We set them down here, in front of you, and we leave them with you.

Where we are anxious, teach us to be still. Where we are proud, make us honest. Where we have been unkind, give us the courage to mend it.

Keep us close to you through the night. Let us wake tomorrow with our hope renewed and our hands open. We ask this not because we deserve it, but because you are good, and your mercy is new every morning.
