A Prayer for the Tired
For anyone who comes to the end of the day with more asked of them than they had to give.
God of the long day, we come to you unhurried, though the hours have not been.
We bring what we managed and what we missed. We bring the work left unfinished and the words we wish we had chosen better. We do not hide the tiredness from you, because you already see it.
Teach us to set down what is not ours to carry. Where we have strained to hold everything together, remind us that you are holding us. Be near to those who are anxious tonight, to those who are ill, and to those who will not sleep for worry over someone they love.
Scripture says, "Be still, and know that I am God." Make us still. Make us willing to be known.
Give us rest that is real, and a quiet trust that outlasts it. Amen.
