A Prayer for Mixed Faith
Praying the father's words as our own
Mark 9:24NIV
Lord Jesus, we come to you the way the father came, with a real need and a divided heart. We believe; help our unbelief.
We have watched things fail that we expected to work. We have prayed and not seen answers, and we have grown careful about what we ask. Today we lay the caution down. You are able. We are not asking whether you can. We are asking you to act.
For those among us carrying a child's suffering, a long illness, a fear we have stopped naming, we ask what the father asked. Take pity on us and help us.
Teach your church to pray again, and not simply to perform what once worked. Remind us that the power was always yours. On this day of celebration in our country, keep us grateful, keep us humble, and keep us honest before you. Amen.
